Bo meets Lauren for the first time in the pilot episode, after she is captured by Dyson and Hale and brought to The Ash’s compound. Lauren treats her with kindness as she examines her and gently explains to Bo her true identity. In an attempt to escape, Bo flirts with Lauren and uses her Succubus abilities on her, although she is ultimately thwarted by Dyson.
Even though Bo remains unaligned, Lauren continues to help her with her hunger as well as on various cases, despite at a great risk to her own well-being. In addition to the undeniable physical attraction between them, the two have come to form a deep emotional connection and genuinely care about the other. The continuing training with Lauren has helped Bo to control her abilities so that she does not have to kill every time she feeds, which makes it possible for her to have sex with humans.
Bo and Lauren’s budding relationship continues to progress nicely until Bo encounters a Dark Fae on death row who fell in love with a human. The Ash directs Lauren to distract Bo so that Bo cannot kill Vex and suffer retaliation from the Dark. When Bo finds out after their lovemaking that Lauren was in fact sent by The Ash, Bo feels betrayed and storms out. Despite Lauren reaching out and apologizing on multiple occasions, Bo remains unable to forgive Lauren for some time, choosing to be with Dyson instead towards the end of Season 1.
At the beginning of Season 2, Lauren continues to help Bo, as their relations slowly return to normal. After Bo discovers that the Norn had taken away Dyson’s passion for her, she looks to the possibility of rekindling her romance with Lauren. Things progress slowly and evenly between them, until Lauren is passed onto the new Ash as property. Bo threatens The Ash but Lauren pleads with her to stay out of it. When humans are to be confined to the compound, Lauren seeks refuge at Bo’s place, while Bo assists The Morrigan on a case in return for something that will free The Ash’s hold on Lauren. The Ash pays Bo’s home a visit while Lauren and Kenzi are there, and Lauren agrees to return to the compound within 24 hours when threatened by The Ash. When Bo returns from The Morrigan, Lauren informs her that she will be leaving the following day, possibly forever. Bo tells Lauren about potentially being able to free her. Lauren appears both uneasy and skeptical. They spend a last night together before Lauren departs the next day.
When Bo completes her assignment, The Morrigan hands her a box, the key to freeing Nadia, which will in turn free Lauren. The Morrigan informs Bo that Nadia is in fact Lauren’s girlfriend, to Bo’s dismay. Bo eventually confronts Lauren about Nadia, and Lauren finally reveals everything to Bo, including the fact that Nadia is in a coma. They open the box from The Morrigan to reveal a rusty nail.
Despite almost certainly ruining her own chances at a relationship with Lauren, Bo selflessly assists Lauren with Nadia and takes her to see The Lich, a Dark Fae who possesses vast knowledge. While there, both Bo and Lauren come under threat and are chained. The Lich wants Bo to suck all the life out of Lauren for his own viewing enjoyment. At Bo’s repeated refusals, The Lich threatens to kill and eat Lauren, at which point, Bo, who is still chained and bleeding from being shot in the stomach, summons all of her strength and becomes a powerful Succubus in order to save Lauren. The Lich eventually tells them that Nadia was cursed and not sick.
The recent turn of events leaves Lauren with very conflicted feelings; she is divided between her guilt and loyalty towards, and her likely continued love for Nadia, and her strong feelings towards Bo, whom she kisses while Nadia lies comatose beside them and whom she accidentally confesses to loving. When The Ash finds out from The Old Ash’s journals about the Dark Fae in the Congo who cursed Nadia, he enlists Bo’s help to remove the curse, and stipulates that for it to work, Bo cannot tell Lauren that she helped her. Bo risks her own life in order to finally be able to remove the nail, and Nadia promptly comes awake. When Bo returns to the compound, she sees Lauren and Nadia embracing in the room and quietly walks away in heartbreak. Lauren later brings Nadia to Bo’s surprise birthday party, which visibly upsets Bo, and gives her a death steel star as a present. Later, we find out that Lauren is so grateful to The Ash for saving Nadia that she re-commits herself to him forever.
When Lauren later borrows Bo’s car to go on a vacation with Nadia, she reveals to Bo that she has re-committed herself to The Ash as she is deeply grateful for his saving Nadia. Bo is livid and confronts The Ash about the betrayal, who reveals to her that he used Lauren to test Bo, to see whether she would succumb to her rage. And from Lauren’s reaction at Bo’s touch of her hand as she tries to hand back the car keys, it is clear that her feelings for Bo are far from resolved.
Lauren returns with Nadia from their road trip after a couple of episodes. When they drop by Bo’s to return the car, Bo and Lauren are clearly happy to see each other and share a warm embrace. The connection between the two women does not escape Nadia, who attempts to assert her position in Lauren’s life. Lauren quickly returns to work and assists Bo and Dyson on a case involving some students at a school.
When Lauren finally gets a moment alone with Bo at the school, she apologizes for Nadia’s recent unusual public display of affection. Although Bo brushes it off graciously at first, when Lauren appears conflicted over keeping Nadia in the dark about the Fae and her history with Bo (and obvious unresolved feelings towards her), it is clear that Bo is not particularly pleased about the situation, either.
Just as Bo gallantly steps aside to allow Lauren and Nadia to reunite, a mysterious and fun-loving Dark Fae, Ryan, captures her attention. Meanwhile, Lauren and Nadia work on reconnecting with each other after five years; however, Nadia cannot help but sense that Lauren has changed. We also discover that Nadia has taken some close-up photos of Lauren’s necklace from the Ash.
When Lauren helps Bo on another case and brings Nadia along to Bo’s place, Bo catches Nadia snooping around her bedroom, including her weapon collection. Nadia appears guilty and claims that she is only checking out her competition and begs Bo not to inform Lauren. Bo complies, but remains suspicious of Nadia. Later at home, Nadia, appearing dazed, intentionally slices her hand and smells her own blood. When Lauren hugs her, a chilling smile spreads across Nadia’s face.
A concerned Lauren begins running tests when Nadia starts to experience fevers and blackouts as well as behavioural changes. After various tests on Nadia’s blood, Lauren is shocked to discover the blood reacting to the Congolese virus anti-serum to combat a virulent Fae outbreak that should have no effect on humans. Meanwhile, Nadia slips into a state of rage. First she attempts to stab Lauren in the shower, then she heads to the clubhouse and is violent towards Kenzi. When Nadia returns home to Lauren, she has reverted to her old self. She is horrified to learn what she did to Lauren and demands to know the truth of what is happening to her. Lauren relents and reveals the existence of the Fae what happened to Nadia over the past five years. Nadia is particularly curious about Bo’s place within the Fae society and presses Lauren for more information when Bo arrives to confront Nadia about her actions at her home. Nadia vacillates between her normal self and her possessed state, at times wanting Lauren to protect her from Bo and other times physically threatening both Lauren and Bo. Bo realizes that the Garuda has somehow overtaken Nadia’s body. As Nadia suffers excruciating pain and loses more of herself to the Garuda’s hatred, she begs Lauren and Bo to kill her to put a stop to both her suffering and the Garuda’s existence. Lauren cannot do it and instead tells Bo to do it, who cannot bear to do so, either. Eventually, in the midst of chaos and confusion, Bo stabs Nadia in the stomach with her knife when Nadia tries to once again attack Lauren. Lauren is heartbroken and kneels beside Nadia as she expires.
Following Nadia’s death, Lauren is initially hostile to Bo, especially when Bo posed the uncomfortable question of whether the Garuda might have learned anything while occupying Nadia’s body. However, Lauren quickly returns to work as the Garuda is quickly approaching. A grieving Lauren eventually seeks Bo out for support by paying her a visit. She has not been sleeping since Nadia’s death and finds comfort in Bo’s arms. Lauren is considering escaping while the Ash is preoccupied with the Garuda. Bo reassures Lauren that whatever she decides, they are in this together. Later, when Lauren is packing her bags, she receives a message from Lachlan beckoning her to his compound. She makes the decision to stay for the battle and collects the Naga venom from Lachlan. Lachlan then perishes from a confrontation with the Garuda, leaving Bo distraught when she arrives at the scene. Lauren shows Bo the Naga venom to be used against the Garuda and reassures Bo that they are in this together.
As the group continues making preparations for the battle against the Garuda, Bo sustains some minor injuries from dealing with the Red Caps gang when she assists the Morrigan. When she shows up at Lauren’s with some scratches, Lauren quickly offers to help her heal and starts unbuttoning her shirt. Bo stops her and explains that she only needs an aspirin and that she would never do that to Lauren. This leads to a conversation about Bo sucking the chi out of everyone when The Lich threatened Lauren. Bo is unsure what triggered it, but Lauren believes that it’s because of the way they feel about each other. Bo tells Lauren that she takes her breath away. As they draw closer to each other, Lauren whispers, “Breathless”, to which Bo replies, “Completely”. However, the moment comes to an abrupt end when Lauren suddenly figures out the solution to keeping the Naga venom stable.
When Bo subsequently visits Lauren to pick up the tube of Naga’s venom, the two share a tender moment when Lauren tells Bo to make the Garuda suffer and reassures Bo, telling her to have faith in herself, in her heart. Bo replies, “It’s not my heart I’m worried about. I love you…” When Lauren gazes at her without responding, Bo adds, “all…so much.” Lauren then looks deeply into Bo’s eyes and tells her, “Then be what we need… a leader.” Later, while infiltrating the Garuda’s hideout, Bo splits the group into two and keeps Lauren and Kenzi close to her. When Vex is injured and Lauren volunteers to stay with him, Bo is very reluctant to leave Lauren. Lauren persuades Bo that she needs to go on and that she will be all right. Bo pulls Lauren in for a passionate kiss before going on her way. After the Garuda has been defeated, the gang is celebrating at the Dal. Dyson suggests to Lauren that she should run away before a new Ash is elected. Lauren tells him that she appreciates Dyson looking out for her. Then she and Dyson both exchange looks with Bo. Vex whispers to Bo that she’ll have a lot of fun with that.
